I think you're right, referrals and "networking" are the key to success. Also importnat to network with other freelancers so you can tackle larger projects as a team as well. Networking3 with web design and development firms is a great way to expand your base. Companies always need help from contractors / freelancers, might as well be on their list! Great article.
