I agree completely with the fact that your outer appearance and your body language sends a message to your customer.
And it is not only about dressing up (a dark suit might be necessary in banking, while in other professions it might be considered overderessed), I consider your inner attitude or self-image as even more important.
If you consider yourself a loser, your body language is expressing that.
If you think yourself e.g. as a business samurai, as somebody with highest standards of professionalism and ethics, this reflects as well.
Such an self-image does not need to expressed verbally, but it helps tremendous to make the right decisions...

I agree! I think that your posture not only affects how other people perceive you, but it can also help boost your own confidence. When you're more confident you do less clumsy things, say less clumsy things and generally perform better.

I think we all sometimes need to be reminded that these things make a difference. Thanks to this post, I am now sitting up straight!

I can't agree more! It's total self confidence, portraying what your product is, or your service. If you are sloppy in your appearance and un-ironed, somewhere in the back of their mind - as Nicholas said, they will be thinking it.

Stand Tall, you will be able to reach further.

Bang on! When you dress better, you feel better, you act better and present yourself better.
Even if others in the meeting are not thinking consciously "this person isn't worth working with", they are thinking it subconsciously.

One extra tip for instant posture correction: Think of someone you admire who has a commanding posture, then imagine what it's like to be them. Imagine they're stepping into your shoes. Don't be surprised when your posture (and perhaps your whole demeanor) changes ...
