Excellent advice!

I do photo restoration, so I put 'before & after' shots on my card.
People tend to pause, look, study, and look up and say wow!
Now, why ain't I handing out 4 or 5 of these puppies a day?
After reading your article, there are no more excuses!

Peace,
"Guided by the Ancestors"

So true - my hardest thing is actually handing out the cards, as I've been known to have a box of cards last a long time. After just recently designing a new card, I've received a lot of positive feedback on something I did - adding a few leading comments and lines for notes on the back of the card.

Great article!
Infact, you know what's better than business cards? Laminated business cards! You can put them through the laundry, feed them to your dog, trample on them and soak them in the water that collects near your feet in the car, and they're still legible.
As it happens I have a great line on these, and they're reasonably priced too... let me know!

What other advertisement cost so little and returns so much? I truly believe no one in business today can afford not to hand out business cards, especially not freelancers making a living in this economy. I personally try to hand out 3-5 cards per day, every day.

Great suggestions for handing out your card! I recently designed and printed my own card... and I definitely used some color, LOL (black background w/ pink and green writing on the front for my logo / slogan / pink background w/ white writing on the back for my name, address, etc) Sounds very out there, but it matches my site, lol. My thoughts being there's no way THIS won't stand out among all the other white business cards! I also got the rounded edges (amazing how much you can get for your money with some of the online print shops!)

Where this article comes in so well is the suggestions to actually USE them! I've also been guilty of hanging onto a box of business cards (I still have leftovers of my first ones from several years ago - old address and everything). Now I leave them on the table at restaurants, etc. I do need to actively hand them out to people more, though, and mail them out to clients, etc. (I'd send 2-3 so they have some extra's on hand too).

Thanks for the reminder! I won't let this box of cards just sit around again!

Great article, inspiring for me! I feel like the first two sentences of the last paragraph "It is a proven fact..." should be part of every interaction I have with a prospective client.
