I think most people would agree that saving money is something “easier said than done”. Personally, I believe it’s a mind-set that needs to be developed by creating good money-saving habits.

Here are some things I’ve done to help change my spending habits:

  - Cook more at home ( Eating out is very expensive especially
if you do it a couple times a week
  - Try shopping online ( You can find better deals than in the
store and you save on gas (I recommend HYPERLINK
    "http://www.shoptivity.com" http://www.shoptivity.com)
  - Pay the full balance on credit cards each month ( Interest
charge is like giving away free money
  - Don’t forget to pay yourself ( Set up an online savings
account (they pay higher interest than a normal savings
     account)
  - Set a budget and goals ( It’s good to have your goals
written down so you see them everyday and don’t lose focus
     on your ultimate objectives

Again, saving money requires a lot of patience and hard work. However, you’ll thank yourself later on in life. Good luck everyone!! =)

The down side to being a freelancer is that one must keep track of one's own books. This requires a lot of self discipline in order to fulfill tax requirements, time management and health and retirement factors. Another disadvantage is that it may be difficult to maintain a steady stream of work. A freelancer is responsible for finding and winning projects. Sometimes, convincing a client to hire a particular freelancer can be a job in itself.

There are many websites that offer to connect clients with a freelancer. These services often have many freelancers who bid on particular projects that clients post. Other services simply post projects and allow freelancers to submit a resume and samples of previous work. A freelancer often can find projects through word of mouth, from a former employer, or from classified ads in print as well as on the web.

you can also write off things like shelving, desks etc that you use for your office. if you have a housekeeping service, you can write off the portion that is used for your home office (ie - if your office is 100sf and your home is 1000sf, then you can write off 10% of the cleaning service). i also write off electric (1/10th), and other various things like exterminating services.

A lot of very useful information up above! Does anyone know how it works if you are actually employed by a company and work out of your home? Dabbling in a bit of freelance at the same time?

Thanks
