Very nicely written and so true. My father in law has his own business and puts a lot of effort into sending out thank you notes at Christmas time and for any business referrals. Repeat business and happy customers is the key to success.

There was a time when sales people were looked upon with envy. We had freedom, good pay checks and served a need in our communities. I think it is time to reclaim that rank within our fields. You're so right. Selling is a lost art. It's amazing how few sales people LISTEN or even care enough to follow up. I love this post especially the part about saying thank you. I have sample thank you notes specifically for sales.

It’s also important to realize that many industries are very small. It’s never a good idea to bad talk anyone. The person that you had a bad business relationship yesterday may be the one making the decision on whether to use your service tomorrow.
