Integrity. I think we have it emblazoned all over our site and business, and I'm very proud of that.

This was an excellent article, Bob. Well done.

Great post, thanks for sharing. Completely agree on all points, and I particularly agree that in the long run those who are more honest and friendly will get more success than those who might talk or pressure their way into jobs which they might not fully know how to do. I've yet to speak to another designer / freelancer who isn't a very nice person, some are nicer than others but all very pleasant people.

Bob, this whole series has been very valuable to me, and this post in particular really brings it home. Why work for yourself at all, if you're not going to follow your own standards? Thanks so much for your thoughtful posts.

This is a great post -- too many articles are about how to earn more money, and increase business, but the manner of how you deal with your clients is half the battle, and determines your repeat and retention rate. I am learning as I go along -- and learning how to do business right way. It's all about creating annuities, and not just transactions.

I completely and wholeheartedly agree! I've left positions because the company would do anything to make a buck, including promoting unethical companies, something I just won't support. It truly does make a difference in the end of your day if you work to for people that are honest and ethical. It's refreshing to read that others agree, cheers!

This is terrific and timely, Bob. I know I left the corporate, organized work world because it wouldn't allow me to maintain my sense of self, my integrity, and my own damn schedule. That's something infinitely powerful about being my own boss is the ability to dictate the work I'll take on, and to maintain my own code. Great post, and great food for thought.

Well said. If you can't rest your head on a conscious pillow before you fall to sleep; then really, what's the point?
