The fast food competition analogy is good. Some business people are afraid to come up with a better wheel just because of competition. But going back to the fast food analogy, competition didn't stop Burger King, it didn't stop Wendy's, and all the others that have since followed.

They are all essentially burger joints, but all managed a way to be different, and they are all successful, usually located right NEXT to each other. It is the best example ever of how competition should never deter anyone.

Nick is employing creative and resourceful competitive tactics.

In football, this would be called an interception ... business is a contact sport too.

Stephen's right ... If you want to find a McDonalds just find a Burger King and look across the street.

I am sure if you did this type of PPC in certain high profile industries(medical) law suits would be more likely.

I think this is definitely a legitimate practice. He's not pawning off his brand as the name brand that people are searching for. He just wants people to see his brand before they purchase from a competitor.

I've noticed that stores in my area seem to pop up directly across from a competitor. It seems logical to space themselves geographically from competitors, but I suspect they do it this way to get business from people travelling to a competitor. Same concept.
