XHTMLiT.com

Hey folks, I’d like to welcome XHTMLit to our growing family of advertisers and partners on Freelance Folder. You’ll see the new banner in the sidebar on the right. Big thanks to Artur from XHTMLiT/InterDevil.

Basically what they do is take your design file(s), PSD, PNG, AI, etc… and they convert them into valid XHTML and CSS markup, usually in 8 business hours.

That could definitely help me and free up some time. It’s always nice to let someone else make sure everything works fine in IE6 :)

What Do They Do Exactly?

Here’s the list

  • Web Standards compiant (W3C Valid XHMTL and W3C Valid CSS) coding conversion
  • Markup that works with all well known browsers and search engine friendly
  • 50% Discount provided on additional pages, must be similar to first page
  • 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed and Friendly Staff
  • Free delivery and 30 days support from day of xhtml delivery
  • Proper organized and structured XHTML and CSS
  • Images are sliced with details and optimized for quality
  • Fast and Reliable turn-around just under 8 business hours
  • Everything is Hand Coded.

If you got design files that you need coded but don’t have time or the skills to do it check out XHTMLiT, it may very well be what you were looking for. And at $119 for the first page and 50% off for all other pages, it really is affordable.

Again, welcome guyz! :)

Jon

Just wish I could really see what they do. Their portfolio links are dead: http://xhtmlit.com/Work-Examples/screenshots/website-three-html.css

I would have used ‘em. But that’s just unprofessional.

Mentioning advertisers every now and then is a great approach on your part, which definitely makes advertising on Freelance Folder a win-win situation for both parties involved.

But apparently they don’t spell check.

    * Web Standards compiant

They sound great but this would be a deal killer to me.

Robert, you’re right, I’ll let them know about it. I also noticed a typo on your website… “writen” instead of “written”, just thought I’d point it out.

This is a bit old but I’ve used them so I thought I’d post a little review here for internet posterity sake. Overall I’d say they do marginal work. On their web site they say they turn files around in 8 hours, but on both jobs it took them several days to complete, which was fine, I wasn’t actually depending on a 8 hour turn around.

The code they write is fairly clean and readable.

Their attention to detail is lacking. They do the job to about 90% but the last 10% is a real chore to get done. I ended having to take screen shots in all the browsers and post them for them to look at explicitly. I’ve been going back and forth with them for weeks on one job. At one point the long support ticket dissappeared, not sure if it was a glitch or a fed up worker …

Another thing I didn’t like was that your job doesn’t seem to have a dedicated developer, so I got replies from 3 different developers on my job. Seems inefficient to me …

Another big thing in the downside is that they don’t support transparent images. In my case I had gradient backgrounds and rounded corners, they just cut them as jpegs and in most cases the background gradient didn’t match up with the jpeg’s gradient background.

In a lot of cases, they seemed to take the easier route, so instead of making buttons a combination of text on a background image, they just made the button a image, which was ok as I didn’t think to specify in my initial instructions.

On the upside the price is pretty good, especially if you have a lot of work for them to do, as they give you 50% off for any work submitted inthe following week after your first job.

Bottom line is that you pay for what you get in this case. If you have simple jobs I’d say it’d be ok to go with them, but if you have more complex work, probably just do it yourself.

I’ve been working with XHTMLiT for over a year now and each time they continue to deliver high quality code quickly and efficiently. I don’t see what everyone else is talking about. I’ve used both PSD2HTML and Pixel Crayon, XHTMLiT from my experience stands out. I look at everything from quality of code to delivery, to customer service. First, all of the rest of companies out there are based in India, even if they have an office in US. I can get an address anywhere in the world plus their customer service shows where in the world your staff is at specially with the broken English I received from other companies, XHTMLiT is based here in the US and Canada eh! Delivery for all three companies is fine but if I have a problem only XHTMLiT answered me on a Sunday at 8 am. Plus after 6 months, I decided to have rollovers done and everyone else asked $50+ bucks to have that done, these guys did it under their support contract from the start for free! It’s understandable that if you send no instructions just a design file, you will get what a developer can do from what he sees. Overall, I’ll compare many aspects of this company that stand out in full, work with no one else but them and in the end they care for us, the clients. I choose XHTMLiT for my friends and my company to convert Design to markup as a service provider.
